On 12th February 2024, on my way back to the airport in New Delhi, I had a brief conversation with a taxi driver. One of his point of view in that conversation made me uncomfortable and put me to think. He was angry about the Agni veer scheme of the Government of India. He was telling, what will a trained soldier do after 4 years if they will be unemployed. Since they are trained in war strategy, ammunition, combat, will they be threat to the country and society?

This may be the thought of several people. I have seen many parents, job aspirants were unhappy about this scheme because this is a temporary job for 75% of the recruits and a person is not settled even after going through the selection process, training, job etc. They have to continue their struggle to find another job. Here, I am not talking about the Government scheme or policy or strategy, whether they are good or bad. But do you agree to the driver’s point of view? If a person, who is educated, but unemployed, can they be threat for the society? Will they become criminal? Can the enemies of our country or society recruit them for anti-social or anti-national activities?

We have NCC cadets, who are prepared to take part in war against the enemies of our country at the time of need. Whereas will an Agni veer who may be better trained than an NCC cadet become threat to the country?

In the past, we had people within our country who had helped enemies to invade and conquer India. Do we still have those type of people who can go against our country for their own benefit or for some complicated situations or circumstances in their life?

We have to remember, we had and have people, who will never think or do anything against India in any circumstances. Whether they have to die or starve or get tortured or become poor, they will never compromise their ethics and value system. Because honesty is the guarantee for better, safer and stronger society. Everyone has to develop endurance to face any situations to stay patriotic and never do anything which is against our country and against humanity. Because without a country, we are nothing.

If we want to live in a peaceful world, first we have to have a peaceful country. But the journey starts from an Individual, then family, then village, and then the country. Be a good human first irrespective of anything.
